Wordpress Websites Advantages

I have started creating websites using the online Wordpress.org platform. There are several reasons for using Wordpress as opposed to using a website builder such as Dreamweaver or Front Page..

1. Google just loves Wordpress, and will index your site very quickly, and rank it more highly than a plain HTML website. It will be even quicker if you get a backlink from just one high ranking source. I had a new site not only indexed within 3 weeks (which is when I checked it, so it may have been faster), but one of the pages was ranking at #1 for its search term.

2. It uses .php and a little XHTML, both more up-to-date than simple HTML.

3. Because it’s built online, you can update it from any computer that has internet access.

4. There are heaps of templates to choose from, some free, some paid. If you know a little CSS, you can customise the colours and other elements to your own.

5. You can update your site’s looks quite easily by simplying installing and activating a different template.

6. There are thousands of plug-ins and widgets available, most of them free, which you can add to your site for more functionality. They include : rotating pictures, subscribe forms, event calendar, shopping cart, the list is nearly endless.

7. Plugins and Wordpress itself can be easily updated to the latest version from within the admin area of the site, simply by clicking a button. Each one that has an update available will have a message next to it. 

8. If you sell it, you only need to give the buyer the admin login details and a link to the instructions at wordpress.org on how to move the site to a different server.
