Keyword Research
Do you know which words people are typing in to Google to find your website? Are those words included in your website text? No? You need keyword research.
Keyword research is the basis for all online marketing, including search engine optimisation (SEO). Knowing what the exact words are that people are typing into a search engine to find your website (which will give them the solution to their problem), will put you streets ahead of your competition, who haven’t a clue.

Keyword research is essential for website success
A KEYWORD is a word or phrase that people type into a search engine to find what they are looking for. Once researched and identified, keywords can be used in :
- Web page titles
- Web page Content
- Headings
- Descriptions
- Text links
- Metatags
- Domain name
- A Google AdWords campaign (pay per click advertising)
- Your promotions, advertising and marketing, both online and offline.
Keyword research will ensure your web site contains the key phrases that your targeted market is searching for.
The Process :
- Together we brainstorm a basic list of words and phrases for your topic/niche.
- I take this list and expand it to find hundreds (sometimes thousands) more words/phrases that people are using in the search engines.
- I then find the DEMAND (popularity) for each keyword ie how many times that keyword is searched for
- For each keyword I then find out the COMPETITION (Supply) ie how many web pages already supply those terms.
- A RATIO can then be worked out between the competition and the demand.
- This research is then filtered to find the best keywords to use, ie high demand/low competition.
- You are given the research to select which ones suit you best.
- This can be done for each page, or, often, web pages can be determined by a good keyword.
We also provide tutorials on how best to use these keywords, for search engine optimisation (SEO).
The Ratio Between Supply and Demand is The Critical Factor
Many websites provide keyword research for free. Some will come up with suggestions based on a keyword, some also give the demand. None will give you both supply and demand to come up with a ratio between the two. This ratio is crucial for SEO. Web pages should be based on keywords that have a high likelihood of ranking well on Google.
Your Website Niche
If you are still deciding on a niche for your website, keyword research can save you a lot of time and expense by determining supply and demand, BEFORE you even create a website. The research may suggest that a particular topic has a good probability of making money – or not.
