Proofreading

Although many people use and rely on spell checkers to ensure their text is correct, bad spelling is everywhere, and it is so… unprofessional. This is because spell checkers don’t pick up everything. Did you know that an average of 50% of the ads in local newspapers are incorrectly spelled?

Here is an example of what can easily happen when you use a spell checker (you may have seen it before, however it illustrates perfectly what I mean)

I have a spelling checker,
It came with my PC.
It planely marks four my revue
Miss steaks I cannot sea.

Eye ran this poem threw it,
Your sure reel glad two no.
Its vary polished in it’s weigh,
My checker tolled me sew.

Each word on its own is fine, but not in the correct context, and the spell checker has failed to pick these errors up.

Proofreading must be done by a proofreader, for all published or printed documents or advertisements.

Your printer will not usually correct any mistakes, they just print what you give them.
